How you can Help
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Faith in Youth Partnership - Tutor a middle school student one-day a week, for a semester. - Mentor a middle school student, one-hour, once a week, for at least one-year. - Deliver a special activity (arts, recreation, drama, etc.) to a group of middle school students after school. - Use your professional expertise. - Provide a job shadowing experience for a middle school youth. - Provide a half-day professional development training for the 10 AmeriCorp Members to give them tools to be leaders and engaged in our community.
Financial Counseling Job: Help families repair credit, establish a workable budget and meet financial goals. Hours: 2-4 hours per month. Training: 4 hours of initial training by GSM staff. Age: 18 and up.
CarLink Job: Provide financial counseling and basic car ownership orientation to clients needing reliable transportation. Hours: 2-4 hours per month. Training: 4 hours of initial training by GSM staff. Age: 18 and up.
Clearinghouse Job: Through a network of more than 80 churches the Clearinghouse responds to over 3,000 emergency requests each year. Typical needs include transportation, child care, home repair, financial needs and medical services. Volunteers screen and refer clients to existing community resources or local churches. Hours: 3 hours per week. Training: 3-4 hours of initial training by GSM staff. Age: 18 and up.
Community Housing Partnership Job: Provide emotional and spiritual support to homeless families. Provide encouragement to families as they work to overcome barriers to securing and maintaining permanent housing. Hours: Church volunteer support will vary depending on the needs of the family. Case Management, Financial Counseling & Life Skills Training are offered by CHP staff. Training: 3-4 hours of initial training by GSM staff. Age: All ages.
Receptionist Job: Operate a multi-line telephone system and greet visitors and clients in a courteous and professional manner. Hours: 4 hours per week Training: 3-4 hours initial training by GSM staff. Age: 17 or older
