Neighborhood Connections - Building community from within
Neighborhood Connections
Good Samaritan Ministries first organized a community development initiative in 2007 as Beyond the Walls. This church based model encouraged the local community to work together to improve their quality of life in their neighborhoods.
Now we are expanding our efforts through Neighborhood Connections to include a community based model that brings residents and all three community sectors – business/private, government, faith based and non-profits groups together to strengthen our neighborhoods.
We use an asset based approach that builds on the strengths and talents already present in a neighborhood. People are our greatest asset as we plan, dream and work in community together. Our vision – strong neighborhoods where people are working together and using their talents to improve the quality of life for themselves and their community.
Our Values:
-
A holistic approach to community development is necessary, recognizing that people grow emotionally, physically, relationally, spiritually, and mentally.
-
We respect and value all people and celebrate our cultural diversity.
-
Each person has gifts and abilities that can be shared with others.
-
People are capable of participating in the improvement of their own lives and the community.
-
Positive relationships enhance lives, families and neighborhoods.
-
Working together helps people achieve their dreams and accomplish goals.
